The 1 Role AI Should Not Take, May Be Replaced

Using Machine Learning and Augmented Reality to create teacherless classrooms

We’ve been sending kids to school for 400+ years.

Each one of those years has included the same format of education.

Every student sits in a chair. They all listen to a teacher. When Friday arrives, they walk into a classroom with ungrouped desks scattered around the classroom, pull out a pencil, and wait for the exam to be passed out.

The teacher gives directions to the student, writes the end time for the exam on the board, and wishes them good luck.

Now, if we zoom in on the exams, we will see the same exam on every student’s desk. All the problems are generalized. Every student receives the same questions. It doesn’t matter if 5 students struggled with a concept in class, 32 students will see a problem about it on the test.

Does that make sense? Why are all the students getting generalized problems vs. a customized exam based on their struggles in class?

Here’s an idea: would you take a Honda Prius to work everyday because that’s the car everyone else had? Buy the same house as everyone else? Get the same haircut as everyone else?

Probably not. But, that’s how the current education system is set up. Students don’t have a personalized experience.
